Born in New England, John moved to the Bay Area in 1990 where he honed his craft, learning from a talented pool of contractors and carpenters in Marin and Sonoma Counties.

After 8 years of building homes from foundation to finish, undertaking extensive remodels and even building houseboats in Sausalito, John struck out on his own forming John E Hughes Construction.

John moved his home and business to the serene town of Sonoma in 2005, where he currently resides.
